MICHAEL J. SHAW, President

Michael Shaw is a lifelong resident of Escondido, California, where he resides with his wife and two young children. He developed a passion for volunteer work at a young age and has carried on through his adult life. Michael has been honored as Volunteer of the Year with the President’s Youth Service Award at California State University San Marcos in 1993. Additionally, he has volunteered with several other organizations, including Palomar Continuing Care Center & Rehabilitation, Palomar Hospital Emergency Room, San Pasqual Volunteer Fire Department, Rady Children’s Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary and the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

STEPHEN R. WIRKUS, Treasurer

Stephen R. Wirkus is a longtime Carlsbad resident where he and his wife of almost 50 years reside. They have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. Stephen recently spent a lot of time volunteering with the Carlsbad Police Department. Stephen is an Independent Medical Device Consultant, having previously retired from his 20-year career at Abbot Vascular, where he last served as Senior Director of Quality Regulatory Affairs and Compliance. He’s volunteered with the Carlsbad Police Department and spends a lot of time traveling the world with his wife Diane. He holds multiple degrees, including a Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from New Jersey Institute of Technology. In 2010, Stephen was awarded the Chairman’s Award, the highest award Abbot Labs bestows to individuals for significant achievement in their field. This was in recognition of multiple FDA inspections across seven Abbot sites with no violations in 483 observations. Stephen brings valuable business experience, including his time at Solar Turbines, Inc. and Alphatec Spine.

CHAD HART, Secretary

Chad Hart is a longtime resident of San Diego, California, and a successful local business owner. He has a strong belief in reinvesting into the communities we live in and giving back to the community. Chad attended San Diego State University where he earned his Masters Degree in Business, and previously earned his Bachelors Degree in Construction Management from Perdue School of Business. He is an avid pilot and enjoys flying as well as traveling.
